SOLD OUT African Linden (Sparmannia Africana) 15 seeds (#1591)

The African hemp, grown as houseplant only, is a tree-like shrub with heart-shaped, soft leaves and very soft branches.
From winter until spring, flower umbels consisting of about 20 white flowers each start growing at the tip of the branches.
These plants were cultivated in the Royal Botanic Gardens during the 19th century.
The African hemp loves bright locations, must, however, be protected from direct sun. It can also be placed outside during summer.
Permeable standard soil, rich in humus, is an ideal planting substratum. Water a lot during summer and always keep the soil moist. Fertilize weekly with tub plant fertilizer from March to September. Thanks to the rapid growth, the plant can be trimmed down to its desired size.
A bright place with surrounding temperatures of about 10°C during the winter period is ideal (staircase, winter garden etc.). Water sparingly for waterlogging will lead to stem rotting during winter. White flies might occur if the air is too dry. The African hemp starts growing again already in January. The plant will shed its leaves being exposed to temperatures below 10°C – it should then for the most part be kept dry. The African hemp is very sensitive to frost.
