The flower bracts of this annual Salvia are enlarged and brilliantly coloured.
Use like Lavender for edging your paths. It will look good from June until October and it makes one of my favourite-ever foliage filler plants in a vase.
The bees and butterflies also love it.

Sow inside in pots from March to April in trays of seed compost.
Sow thinly, cover with 5 mm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist.
Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. +15-+20C. Remove cover then seedlings appear.
Seeds also can be sown outdoors in a prepared seed bed in flowering position from April to May. Keep moist and weed free.
