Cornflower (Centaurea Cyanus Double Black) 250 seeds (#952)

A very ornamental plant. The flowers are often used in dried-flower arrangements because they retain their colour well.
This variety is a hardy annual. It bear charming and prolific flowers in deep maroon, almost black, and are especially welcome in the garden as that color is rare in nature, contrasting against other colours in mixed borders.
They make ideal plants for growing in simulated wild gardens. A good plant for bees, butterflies and moths.
The petals of cornflowers are the part used in herbal folklore. Cornflowers are considered to have tonic, stimulant properties. An infusion of the flower petals was used as an eyewash and as an astringent mouthwash.
Succeeds in ordinary garden soil.
