Macedonian Scabious (Knautia Macedonica) 50 seeds (#1382)
About the product
The tall airy Macedonian scabious is a big bold perennial that originates from Central Europe. This long blooming perennial has burgundy, rose or purple-red flowers that are clustered tightly together in a dome-shaped head that resembles a pincushion. These appear on long tall stems that rise from a basal clump of deeply lobed green leaves.
The flowers appear in summer and are attractive to butterflies. They will re-bloom if spent flowers are removed.
Grow this tough and adaptable perennial in full sun and average well-drained soil. It can withstand short periods of drought and requires little maintenance though plants may occasionally need staking. Its blooms are nice for cutting and look pretty in wild informal borders.
