About the product

Very closely related to pinus parviflora. Some taxonomists have split Pinus parviflora into two separate species: Pinus pentaphylla (which is northern) and Pinus himekomatsu (from the south). Sometimes it can be described as Pinus parviflora var. pentaphylla.
This pine originally grows on the Japanese islands. The Pinus pentaphylla is a fully hardy evergreen conifer. Has a light blue-green color.
It grows very slowly and can be brought to the desired shape. That's the reason why this pine is one of the classics among the bonsai and is the most popular garden tree in Japan.
This lovely tree favors full sun and well-drained, humus-rich soil. It fares poorly in extreme heat or cold. Its striking irregular habit suits it for use as a specimen plant, ideal rock garden or bonsai subjects.
