Bidens aurea is a North American species of flowering plant in the daisy family. It is widespread across much of Mexico and found also in Arizona and Guatemala. The species is also naturalized in parts of Europe and South America.
Bidens aurea is an annual herb occasionally reaching a height of 90. It produces numerous yellow flowers during all the flowering season.
It grows primarily in wet areas such as marshes and streambanks.
Grow tickerseed in any moderately to highly fertile soil with average drainage. Mucky soils, such as in a roadside ditch or meadow depression, are a particularly good habitat. If soil moisture is ample, full sun is tolerated, but in slightly drier situation, partial sun to partial shade (shade in the heat of the mid-afternoon) is best. Be diligent about removing seedlings control this plant's inevitable spread across your property.
Use it in summer flower borders, butterfly gardens, or wildflower meadows. Cut the flowers to embellish and fill a vase indoors.
